Our favourite wedding trends of 2019

Stay right on trend

For you special day

Every year a stream of new, exciting trends abound in the wedding scene. Magazines, publishers and styled shoots spearhead the latest fashions and designs, as well as real-life and celebrity weddings.

Some of these trends we love. Like when everyone began mixing metallics in their wedding decor or the trend for whimsical themed weddings a few years ago. However, we’re glad to see the back of some too. Throwback to when silk flowers and novelty cake toppers were a thing! *shivers*

Without further ado, here are the 2019 wedding trends we’ve been loving this year so you can tie the knot in style.

Our favourite wedding trends of 2019

The ceremony

Round ceremonies

Standard ceremony set-ups with all seats facing the altar or stage are so last year. Instead, opt for a non-traditional layout with a round ceremony. Bend the rules for a truly personalised experience. Why not? It’s YOUR big day.

A round ceremony gives more flexibility, helps to overcome any spatial challenges you may have and creates a more intimate feel. The circular shape could also represent your infinite love for each other.

Fashion and beauty

Vintage-inspired ruffles

This trend was popularised by Ellie Goulding’s Victorian-inspired wedding dress, custom made by Chloé in August 2019. It was a long-sleeved gown with delicate embroidered flowers and a ruffled high neck collar. Simply. Stunning.

It’s right on trend at the moment as we’ve been seeing more and more conservative and traditional wedding dress styles appear. Vintage-inspired wedding dresses are timeless, elegant and flattering on bridges of all ages. You can’t go far wrong in our eyes.

Hair tendrils

This next trend is a result of the Meghan Markle effect. In her 2018 royal wedding, Meghan donned a sophisticated updo with delicate hair tendrils to frame her face. As one of the defining weddings of our generation, watched by millions of people all over the world, it’s no surprise that so many other brides have followed her lead.

Hair tendrils are elegant, easy to recreate and don’t require too much effort. Choose this style for a classic, polished look that will never go out of style.

Clips and slides

Adorning your hair with snap clips and slides is one of 2019’s latest trends in the fashion industry and we’ve seen it transpire to weddings too. It appeals to your inner girly girl, so go all out with bold colours, metallic, pearl, floral and gemstone slides and clips for a chic luxe-look. Sliding into a wedding near you!

Decor

Velvet galore

Velvet is a luxurious, plush fabric that’s versatile too. It can be used on everything from table runners to cake decorations, seating covers, wedding shoes, the groom’s tux and more. It’s no wonder it’s become a popular motif for all kinds of weddings.

It works for all seasons depending on which colour you choose. Deep reds and magentas are perfect for winter weddings, whilst shimmering silvers and gorgeous turquoise shades are more summer vibes.

Fruits, seeds and grasses

Not a huge fan of flowers? Why not branch out (pardon the pun) and create a bohemian look by incorporating wheat, berries and grasses into your decor in place of traditional blooms.

Try creating seasonal and organic bouquets and buttonholes made from natural seeds, dried fruits and grasses for something a little different. They look stunning and unlike traditional florals, will be a lasting memento of your special day.

Fancy ice cubes

Now, this might be our favourite 2019 wedding trend. Take ice cubes to a whole new level by freezing berries, spices and herbs in them! It’s an easy way to jazz up your table decor and you pair complementary flavours to tantalise your guests’ taste buds.

Here’s some inspiration to get you started: try raspberry and thyme ice cubes with gin. G&Ts just got a whole lot sweeter.

We hope you’ve enjoyed our round-up of the best wedding trends of 2019. What will be in store for 2020? Who knows! But we can’t wait to find out…
