Finding your dream venue
Help is here!
In the process of choosing your wedding venue but don’t know where to start? Unsure of what questions to ask and what to be looking for in a wedding venue? The good news is – you’re not alone.
The even better news is that we’ve created a step by step guide to choosing a wedding venue with everything you need to know to find your dream venue. It’s the guide every couple needs to discover their dream wedding venue. Take note.
1. Pick a location
Do you want a traditional wedding or a more modern one? Will it be set in the countryside or a quirky, urban setting? It’s time to decide.
Cheshire is a popular choice for weddings due to its prime location a stone’s throw away from Manchester and Liverpool, gorgeous green countryside and myriad of historic buildings. Our wedding venues, Peckforton Castle, Nunsmere Hall and Inglewood Manor, are all located in the stunning Cheshire countryside – perfect for your special day. An excellent choice for a special celebration.
As well as the location itself, consider the logistics of the venue. What are the transport options to and from the venue? Are there public transport links? Does it have a hotel attached for friends and family to stay at if they wish? Answering these questions well in advance will help you to pick a venue that suits your needs and avoid any unneeded stress on the day.
2. Work out budgets
Unless you’re lucky enough to have an unlimited wedding budget (if so, we’re extremely jealous!) you’ll have a wedding venue budget that you need to stick to. Regardless of how much it is, by outlining costs and being meticulous with money from the beginning, you can stay on track and avoid any nasty surprises.
3. Start a guest list
Decide whether you want a large, lavish wedding or a more intimate gathering with close family and friends. Whatever you decide, start your guestlist early so you have plenty of time to choose a venue that can accommodate everyone. And, you can get invitations in the post for guests to save the date!
4. The space
It’s vital to ensure that the space itself suits your requirements. This can mean everything from checking it has on-site catering options, multiple function rooms, disabled access, a large terrace, or having a hotel, spa and restaurant attached. Your chosen venue has to be practical as well as beautiful.
Don’t forget to also enquire if the venue allows exclusive hire of the premises if you want to have the entire place to yourself.
5. Choose a date and reserve a venue
Make sure you choose your venue and pick a date for your wedding in good time. Venues can get booked up years in advance, so prepare to be disappointed if you’re not super organised when requesting a date.
However, some venues offer late availability bookings where you can enjoy reduced prices at less popular times of the year. Peckforton Castle, Nunsmere Hall and Inglewood Manor all offer excellent late availability options – just be quick as these dates will soon be snapped up.
6. Themes and styling
Finally, choose a venue that aligns with your desired aesthetic, theme and style. A boutique hotel has a very different vibe to a rustic barn conversion, so it’s important to try and visualise the look you want when deciding on a venue.
We’re talking about all the details and little touches that will make your wedding personal. Everything from the cake to table decor, flowers, venue dressing and catering. The devils in the decor, right?!
And that’s it from us. Now, at least you can tick one thing off the list – finding a good wedding venue planning guide!
