How to deal with

post-wedding blues

Unfortunately, post-wedding blues are a real thing, so it’s important you know how to deal with them.

After all, it’s only natural that after months – sometimes even years – of planning what is meant to be the best day of your life, you’ll feel a little deflated after the excitement is over and the dust has settled.

So if your’re looking for ways to deal with the blues don’t worry. Because brides and grooms, we’ve got you covered!

Set new goals

Prior to your wedding, some things in your personal and/or professional life may have taken a bit of a back seat. Setting yourself a new 12-month goal and getting to work on it is the perfect way to give you something else to focus on.

For example, win a new client at work, aim for a promotion, visit that friend you’ve been meaning to, run the 10k you’ve always talked about, redecorate, book a trip for your next birthday etc. It’ll be a great way to distract yourself and achieve something you’ve always wanted to.

Take up a hobby...together

As much as you’re both probably glad to see the back of Microsoft Excel, you and your partner will of course miss the time you both set aside together during the week for wedding admin. But now you’ve got all this free time, why not use it wisely?

Plan date nights or start making your way through those DIY projects you’ve both been avoiding. Or even sign up to a weekly Parkrun on the basis that you go for a nice breakfast together or with fellow runners afterwards!

Hold off on honeymoon

We know…this one’s a hard one to get on board with. However, it’s probably one of the most simple ways to ensure you and your partner still have something to look forward to. Plus, it will give your credit card a much-needed break.

Book a return visit

Ok, this one is probably a little cheeky. But what better way to cheer yourself up than with a visit back to where it all began?

Book a night at your venue and relive the magic of your day – it’s a great way to give you and your spouse some time to reflect on how amazing the day was. You can also use it as an opportunity to close the ‘wedding’ chapter and move onto the next one – aka married life!

Meditate

This piece of advice is not to be overlooked. Meditation is a free and simple way to free your mind of stress, and can also help you focus on what’s important. Try practising yoga or downloading a mindfulness app – both are great ways to find your inner zen.

It’s important to remember that if you are struggling, reach out to someone you trust – post-wedding blues are a thing, so you don’t have to suffer alone!
